| Based on the theory of TCM, combined with knowledge of modem psychology, we renewed the concepts of"hunpo""zhiyi"and"shen",and made a comparison between "the unity of Body and Shen"in TCM and"Psyche is related to Body"in modern psychosomatic medicine. The viewpoints as follows: 1. "Hunpo"is a concept used in TCM, referring to human activity relying on congenital instincts, "zhiyi"stands for conscious activities which are based on "hunpo" 2. "Shen"governing"hunpo"and "zhiyi"is the central of"Five shen theory" "Hunpo"and "zhiyi"have a body-mind connection. The basic reason for mental disorders is "zhiyi"(psyche) and "hunpo"(body) imbalance. In health condition, the relation between "hunpo"and "zhiyi"is a unity of opposite. 3. In TCM theory, body-mind relation is the most basic concept, whereas psychosomatic medicine acknowledges the relation between body-mind from the dualistic point of view, TCM regards body-mind relation from the monistic point of view, therefore taking body-mind as two different aspects of one whole. 4. In general, mental disorder theory may not only enhance the level of research of modern psychosomatic medicine theory, but set up effective clinic treatment principles as well. |
