Objective: To know about the degree of theidentification of the primary breast cancer patients withbreast reconstruction after modified radical mastectomyand provide better service for breast cancer patients.Methods: 40 patients are classified in terms of age,occupation and educational background and asked to answerthe inquiry of what their demands on breast reconstruction are.Results: Of the 40 patients,l6 (40%) thirst for breastreconstruction, l5(37.5%) regard it as an unimportant thing,9(22.5%) do not want breast reconstruction. There issignificant difference of identification with breastreconstruction between the groups of different age,occupation and educational background, P<0.005: Theyounger patients with higher education and better jobsshow more identification with breast reconstruction.conclusion: The degree of the identification of theprimary breast cancer patients with breast reconstructionafter modified radical mastectomy is relatively high.General surgeons should have more knowledge of breastreconstruction and actively cooperate with plasticsurgeons. Breast reconstruction should be done If thepatient thirsts for it and the conditions are just right andprovide better service for breast cancer patients.
