Experimental Study Of Different Approaches To Prevent And Treat Glucocorticoid-induced Avascular Necrosis Of Femoral Head In Rabbits

Purpose: To investigate the pathology aiid mechanisms of the effect of chinese herb through three different approaches (activating blood removing stasis, A13!~S; dissipating dampness expelling phlegm, DDEP; rcinforccing kidney strengthen bone, RKS B) to gl ucocorticoid-induced avascul ar necrosis of femoral head. Method: 40 rabbits wcrerandomly divided into 8 groups; the rabbits in A group were as normal control; the rabbits in B group were administered with hydroxyprednisone through glutaeus injection (twice a week) for 6 weeks as control; the rabbits in C group were given hydroxyprednisone as 13 group, and administered with herb drugs of ABRS froni baseline; the rabbits in D group were given hydroxyprednisone just as 13 group, and given herb drugs of DDEP from baseline; the rabbits in F group were additionally given herb drugs of RKSI3 from baseline except for hydroxyprednisone; the rabbits in F group were given hydroxyprednisone just as B group, and were also administered with herb drugs of ABRS 6 weeks after the baseline; the rabbits in G group were given hydroxyprediiisone as B group and given herb drugs of DDE1~ 6 weeks after the baseline; the rabbits in H group were administered with hydroprcdnisonc as B group and given herb drugs of RKSI3 6 weeks after the baseline. The rabbits in A, B, C, D aiid E groups were killed 6 weeks after the baseline, and the rabbits in F, G and H groups were killed 12 weeks after the baseline. Results: Othe conditions of rabbits in A group were better than rabbits in all the other groups, and the weight of A group rabbits increased gradually from the baseline aiid that of B group rabbits decreased from the baseline; the body conditions of rabbits in C, D and B. showed better signs than those in B group; ﹉istomorphologic measurements showed that empty lacuna increased and trabecula of bone decreased significantly in rabbits of B group than those of A group, and the rnedu]Jary cavity hipocytes in B group showed larger size and more amount than those in A group,and heparcytes of rabbits in B group had steatosis changes and heparcyte structures were not clear, and the above changes in C and F groups showed better signs compared with those in B group(p
