Objective To explore retrospectively the infection episodes in the patients with acute leukemia(AL),and to put forward the measure of prophylaxis and treatment. Methods The incidence, pathogenic microorganism and susceptible factors of infectious complications in the patients with AL were analyzed. Results Among 850 patients, 679 (79.88%) had infection episodes, which were correlated with absolute neutrophil, age, duration of neutropenia after chemotherapy ,intensity of chemotherapy, remission status, duration of hospitalization and duration of infection (p<0.05);but not correlated with FAB types(p>0.05). 97 patients died of the severe infection.Respiratory tract and intestinal tract were the frequent sites of infection in neutropenia patients.Pathogenic microorganism were mainly Gram-negative aerobic bacilli. The intensive administration of multiple broad-spectrum antibiotics had additional risk factors for hospital infection. Conclusions The infection episodes in the patients with AL were closely correlated with the leukemia itself and the chemotherapy. Comprehensive prevention and management should be carried out.
