Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome(OSAS) is a chronic condition characterized by repetitive episodes of upper airway collapse during sleep, leading to sleep fragmentation.Accuracy of clinical evaluation of upper airway in the patients with OSAS is very important for their management. This reseach aims to study the factors which related to the changes of upper airway an the effect of methods of surgical treatment in OSAS.Effects of bady position on the upper airway1. A comparative study on changes of oropharynx and rhinopharynx in different postureObjective: To study the changes of obstructive levels in oropharynx and rhhiopharynx in supine position. Methods:A detailed cephalometric analysis was performed using lateral X-ray films in siting position and supine position from 15 male volunteers. Results:In the supine positioir.the soft palate andhyoid bone was displaced posteriorly;the posterior airway space (PAS) got turned more narrow compared to sitting position. Conclusion:Lateral X-ray film in supine position is highly recommended as a valuable tool in the diagnosiSjtreatment option and prognoses evaluation of obstructive sleep apnea svndrome (OSAS).2. Comparison of upper airway dimensions with cephalometry in different posture.ObjectiverTo compare results of upper airway dimensions with cephalometry in different posture. Methods:A detailed cephalometric anaysis was performed using lateral X-ray films in sitting position and supine position from 30 male volunteers.Resultsrln the supine position, the mandibular and hyoid bone was displaced;the posterior airway space(PAS) got turned more narrow compared to sitting position. Conclusion:Lateral X-ray film in supine position in highly recommended as a valuable tool in the in the diagnosiSjtreatment option and prognoses evaluation of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome(OSAS).3. Relationship betvveen hyoid bone and hypopharynges airway in different posrure.objective:To study thebetween hyoid bone and hypopharynges airway in different posture. Metho餾:Lateral cephalometry was carried out in 30 male volunteers both in sitting and supine postion.Correlations have been made between the hyoid bone and posterior airway space(PAS).Results:Distance from hyoid bone to posterior pharyngeal wall was significant related to the PAS and distance from hyoid bone to sella was negatively related to PAS both in sitting and supine position.ConcIution:position of hyoid bone may provide clinic value in evaluation of hypopharynges airway. Posture is an imperminant of hypopharynges airway dimensions.4. Relationship between soft palate and retropatal airway in different posture Obiective:To study the relationship between soft palate and retropalatal airway in different posture. Methods:Lateral caphalometry was carried out in 30 male volunteers both in sitting and supine postion. Correlations have been made between the soft palate and retropalatal airway dimensions. ResultsrLength of soft palate and distance from tip of the uvula to NS vvere negatively related to the retropalatal airway both in sitting and supine position. Retropaltal airway insupine postion got turned more narrow compared to sitting postion. CondusionrThe length and position of soft palate may provide clinic value in evaluation of retropalatal airway,Posture is an imperminant of retropalatal airway dimensions. Imaging evaluation of upper airway in the patients withOSAS1. A comparative study on upper airway space of patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome in different posture Objective To compare results of upper airway dimensions of patients with obstructive sleep apnea svndrome(OSAS) in different posture and to study the changes of sofe tissue and skeletal in supine position. Methods A detailed cephalometric analysis was performed using lateral X-ray films in sitting position and supine position from 10 male patients with OSAS.M-PW,PAS,H-S,ZANS-PNS'U, Z SNA, ZSNB and mandibular plane angle were recored in difTerent posture.Resu...
