Objective:To study the succinate dehydrogenase(SDH) activity in hippocampal cortex of neonatal pigs after brain damage with hypoxic-ischemia and refusion,so as to understand the value of energy metabolism in HIBD.Methods:1 Sixty pigs of three days old were randomly assigned to five experimental groups and a control group. The experimental groups were performed cerebral hypoxic-ischemia by ligating left common carotid artery and then exposed to 8% O2 and 92%N2 to establish the HIBD animal model.2 According to the normoxic-atmosphere exposing time, the experiment groups were divided into five groups (Ohr,24hr,48hr,72hr,96hr). Sham operations were performed on the control group which were exposed to normal atmosphere during the experiment period. Mitochondria of left hippocampal cortex were isolated from each pig,and the SDH activity was examined by spectrophotometer.Results:1 Established the HIBD animal model successfully.2 TheSDH activity of Ohr group was the same as that of control group. The number was 17.94+0.67umol/min/mg protein.3 The SDH activity of 24hr declined the lowest point. It was 9.16+0.59umol/min/mg protein. And it was lowest than Ohr and control groups' obviously.4 At 48hr,the SDH activity began to restore, and reached the level of the control group in 96hr group.
