[Objective] To study the effect of high-dose or low-dose fluticasone propionate and beclometasone dipropionate on adult asthma, and probe with the possibility of low-dose fluticasone propionate in the treatment of mild or moderate asthma.[Methods] 134 patients with asthma were divided into FP group and BDP group. 74 subjects in FP group were treated with inhaled high-dose FP (250-750ug/d) or low-dose FP (125-375ug/d); 60 cases in BDP group were treated with inhaled high-dose BDP (500-1500ug/d) or low-dose BDP (250-750ug/d). Salbutamol could be taken as necessary to relieve asthma symptoms. The symptom scores, PEF and quantity of using salbutamol should be recorded in the first 3 months of treatment.[Results]1.Before and 3 months after the treatment, symptom scores, PEF and FEV! were:(1) For FP group they were (2.5+1.1), (2.69+ 1.02)L/min, (1.76 + 0.6)L/min and( 0.5 + 0.3), (3.12+ 1.09)L/min, (2.02 + 0.59)L/min. For BDP group they were (2.5+1.2), (2.45 + 0.98)L/min, (1.72 + 0.59)L/min and (0.7 + 0.3), (2.79 + 0.92)L/min, (1.91+0.57)L/min. They were remarkably improved in both groups after the treatment (P<0.05). There were significant differences between two groups (P<0.05).(2) For high-dose FP group they were (2.4+1.1), (2.65 + 0.98 ), (1.74 + 0.5)L/min and (0.4 + 0.2), (3.08 + 0.99)L/min, (2.01 + 0.57)L/min.For low-dose FP group they were (2.5+1.0), (2.71 + 1.01 )L/min, (1.77 + 0.56)L/min and (0.5 + 0.3), (3.11+0.97)L/min, (2.02 + 0.59)L/min. The differences between two groups were not significant (P>0.05).(3) For high-dose BDP group they were (2.3+1.0), (2.41 +0.96)L/min, (1.73+0.51) L/min and (0.6 + 0.3), (2.81+0.99)L/min, (2.0+0.56)L/min. For low-dose BDP group they were (2.5 + 0.9), (2.48+1.02)L/min, (1.71 + 0.54)L/min, and ( 1.1+0.3), (2.76 + 0.98)L/min, (1.92 + 0.53)L/min. Those showed significant differences between two groups (P<0.05). 2. Quantity of using salbutamol was(1) In FP and BUP group it was decreased by 57% and 39% respectively, which were remarkably differences in both groups (p<0.05).(2) In high-dose and low-dose FP groups it was decreased by 60% and 55% respectively, there were no differences between groups(P>0.05).(3) In high-dose and low-dose BDP groups, it was decreased by 41 % and 36% respectively, the differences between two groups were significant (P<0.05).[Conclusions]1. FP was much more effective than BDP in the treatment of asthma.2. It was the best way to use FP to treat asthma among the available inhaledcorticosteroids.3. Low-dose FP was as effective as high-dose FP in the treatment of mild ormoderate bronchial asthma...
