HuangChuan Capsule, which is made from Radix Astragali Rhizoma chuanxiong and other two kinds of herbs, is an effective prescription in treating cerebral infarction. The auther has made a study on its preparation and quality standard.1. Study on the preparationIn accordance with proerties of medicinal materials and specificity of indications of the prescription, the capsules was selected as the dosage form of the drug. Using the transferring rate of tetramethylpyrazine as indexes, the optimum extracting condition with alcohole of Rhizoma chuanxiong for the first time was selected by uniform test, and the times of extracting was studied. Using the content of Astragaloside IV and gross saponin and astragalin as evaluating indexes, we selected the optimum extracting condition with water by orthogonal design. On the basis of these studies combining specifity of medicinal materials and requirements of the dosage form, the preparation process was ascertained for the huangchuan capsule.2. Study on Quality StandardThe Rhizoma chuangxiong and Pheretima were indentified by TLC. A TLCS method for the determination of astragaloside IV in the capsule. Average recovery rate was 98.01% while RSD was 1.40%. Assay method was validated in the research of content. On the basis of the above-mentioned quantitative analysis menthod for astragaloside IV, quality standard of HuangChuan Capsule was drafted.
