Objectives To study the changes of central-10皃erimetry in early nonexudative age-related macular degeneration. And campare the sensitivity with Amsler grid. Simultaneously evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of Stulln Mono to early-stage NEAMD.METHODS 34 cases with 62 eyes of early stage nonexudative age-related macular degeneration were compared with 31 age-matched control cases in mean light sensitivity (MLS) of central 10皃erimetry by automatic perimetry Octopus-101 under the use of program dM2. At the same day. AMD patients were checked with Amsler grid and recorded the results. 16 cases of early AMD with 28 eyes had been examined central 10皃erimetry a-gain after using stulln mono eyedrops for 40 days, controlled with 15 AMD cases with 28 eyes without treating. Results (1) The MLS of early nonexudative AMD decrease significantly compared with age-matched control group. t=15. 55>t0. 001(61)=3. 46 , P<0. 001. (1) Of patients with AMD in early stage, 88. 71%, 55 eyes show decreased MLS, whereas 58. 1%, 36 eyes, demonstrate abnormal Amsler grid, the difference is significant while x2 = 14. 91> X20. 01(1) = 6. 64. (3) The MLS of early stage AMD treated with stulln is significantly increased , when it is compared with the MLS obtained before treatment. t=8. 97>t0. 001 (27) = 3. 69,P<0. 001. 0The MLS of the control AMD decreases significantly in second result comparing with the MLS of first perimetry. t = 5. 42>t0. 001(27) =3. 69, P< 0. 001. (5)The second MLS of treated eyes was compared with the second MLS of control group, 26. 19+1. 06 dB and 25. 53?. 60 dB, there is significant and statistic difference t = 5. 54>t0. 001(27) =3. 69, P<0. 001.Conclusion (1) There is significant decrease of MLS in early AMD of nonexudative type, and it manifests as irregularly relative scotoma in perimetry. (2) To detect the manifestation in early nonexudative AMD, automatic perimeter of Octopus-101 is much more sensitive than Amsler grid. (3) We can make early diagnosis and monitor the changing of visual function in early AMD by the central 10perimetry. (4) Eyedrop of stulln Mono improves the visual function in nonexudative AMD of early stage.
