objective: To investigate the relationship between angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) gene polymorphism and microalbuminuria(MAU) and lacunar infarction in patients with essential hypertensionMethods: ㏄olymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to determine the genotypes for an insertion/deldtion polymorphism of the ACE gene in 50 hypertensive patients with microalbuminuria and 49 hypertensive patients and 30 hypertensive patients with lacunar infarction and 50 healthy controls.㎝icroalbuminuria concentrations were detected by radioimmunoassay.(3)lacunar infarction were diagnosed by MRI or CT. Result: There was significant difference in the frequencies of D allele and DD genotype between hypertensive patients with microalbuminuria and healthy controls. There was significant difference in the frequencies of D allele and DD genotype between hypertensive patients with lacunar infarction and healthy controls. Conclusion: There was correlationship between ACE gene polymorphism and the hypertensive patients with microalbuminuria and the hypertensive patients with lacunar infarction. DD genotype was possibly involved in the renal injury in the patients with hypertension, DD genotype was possibly involved in the lacunar infarction in the patients with hypertension.
