Objective In order:o provide the scientific basis for tuberculosis prevention andcothel in colleges and univerities. it is necessny to make on sUrVey of Preva1ence,knoWledge, attitUde, pracice (KAP) abou tuberculosis. and stUdy screening wnys, therisk factors of tuberculosis anong colleSes and triversities The grouping randomsampling M was used .A tota1 of 59 classes in grads 2~4 of 3 college anduniversities was surveyed. This random survy was for the prevalence, knowledge, allitUde. praCtice (KAP) about tuberculosis among colleges and universi- ties, and tostudy two screening ways. A case-control study method was used in order to stUdy therisk faCtors of tuberculosis wth 79 cases and 87 controls in co1lege students.Resu1ts The actal exami12ed POpu1ation in this survey was 1723. The examinationrate was 99.48%. The resultS of the sUrVey showed the following factsf48 patients werediscovered and 3 Patients were the smear-POsihve .The Prevalence of tuberculosis oftubercu1osis was 2.79%,the smear-POsitive prevalence was 0. l7%.The prevalence fOr2,3,4 grads WeT 4.20%. 1.78%. 2.89% resPectively. Of thc bo screening Ways, theexeellent esnsitivity was PPD testing and queStions of semiology fOr tuberculosis inParaller (97.56%). The exeelent SPeCificity was two ways inseries (97.02%). Thehighest yonden's index ra PPD testing (68.44%). In risk factors stUdy. single-vallbleanaIySis shOWed tiat Bacille Calmettexiuerin (BCG) vaccination scar, diameter of BCGvaccination scap hiStOry of exposure tO tubereulosis, schooling of mother, the Ways oflife, living tuderd before talversity and so on had significat effeC on tuberculosis.Multiple 1ogistic regression analysis slioWed that there were 12 factors entered the fina1regression model (P<.05 or 0.0l). The risk faCtrs were native Place(OR3.252, P<0.05). tfie ways ofindePandonce 1if e before in col1ege(ORed.283, P so.05), smokingyears(OR=1. I 83, P <0.05), scoial astion tir'ed (Oss3.734, P <0.01) and so on. Diameterof BCG vaccination scar, weight, schooling of mother, family economic income, and so on could play the roles in the prevention of tuberculosis. The results of the survey for knowledge, attitude, practice (KAP) showed the following facts: There ware are only 50% students knowing about etiology, transmission way, life-threaten, chemical prevention of tuberculosis. The prevalence to fear to patients of tuberculosis, tuberculosis and worry about treatment of tuberculosis in students were 61.41%, 44.68%, 46.49%, respectively. 52.62%~65.37% students had not become a healthy habitual practice. But above 90% students had right attitude about tuberculosis. Conclusions The present situation of tuberculosis in colleges and universities students is serious. They were the focal point crowed of tuberculosis control. It is necessary to control and prevent tuberculosis in college and university students. PPD testing and questions of semiology for tuberculosis in paraller is a good screening way. The risk factors of tuberculosis among college students were complex. At the situation of non-break out, poor social economic status and environment of family, social actional tired and so on were the risk factors of tuberculosis chiefly. Endogenetic episode pattern would be main cause among college students. The present situation of knowledge, practice on tuberculosis in university students is critical. It is necessary to practice health education about KAP of tuberculosis.
