The diabetogeneous myocardiopathy is one of the diabetic mellitus chronic complications. With the development of the disease, the patients may have cardiac dysfuction, myocardium hypertrophy, heart dilation and induce heart failure in later period. The relationship of myocardial damage and myocardial apoptosis has not been reported all over the world. In this experiment , the model rats were established by STZ and hyper-calorie diet. We studied the model in glucose metabolism, fat metabolism, myocardium histomorphology, myocardial apoptosis and gene expression and we also discuss the mechan -ism of TangXinkang treating the diabetic myocardial damage.The results show that: (1) The clone of myocardial damage models of diabetic rats has been made successfully. (2) Tang xinkang has good effects in decreasing glucose and fat in blood and reducing myocardial change in histomorphology. (3) Diabetic myocardial apoptosis is an important pathologic character of diabetic myocardial damage and is associated with Fas/Bcl-2 gene control. (4) Tangxinkang can adjust Fas/Bcl-2 gene expression and restrain myocardial apoptosis.The results above not only provide objective basis of Traditi -onal Chinese Medicine preventing and treating diabetogeneous myocardiopathy, but also reveal its genesis mechanism.
