[Objective] To investigate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) expression in colorectal cancer and its relation with microvessel density (MVD) and Agnor.[Methods]The expression of VEGF, Agnor and MVD of different regions of colorectal cancer were studied by immunohistochemical method (SP) from 32 surgical resected specimens, 32 colorectal adenoma and 10 colorectal normal tissue. All specimens were approved by pathological examination. All data were analysized by Excel statistic software.[Results] (1) Among 32 colorectal cancer,22 cases were positive , the positive rate was 68. 7%. The expression of VEGF was correlated with depth of invasion, tumor metastasis and Dukes stage. The expression of VEGF in metastasis group was significantly higher than that in non-metastasis group(p<0.01). It was not correlated with the large of tumor and histologic types(p>0. 05). (2)The MVD in colorectal cancer group (29. 31±7.86) was significantly higher than that in colorectal adenoma (10. 03 ±2.58) and colorectal mucosa group (4. 50±1.78) (p<0. 01) . MVD was correlated with depth of lymph-node metastasis , distant metastasis , Dukes stage and depth of tumor invasion. MVD in colorectal adenoma was significantly higher than that in normal tissue (p<0. 01) .The MVD in Dukes D, C were significantly higher than that in Dukes A,B (p<0.01) .It was not correlated with the large of tumor and histologic types(p>0. 05). (3) The Agnor incolorectal cancer group(4.47±1.05) was significantly higher than thai in colorectal adenoma(2.04±0. 84) and colorectal mucosa group (1.21±0. 28) (p<0. 01) . The Agnor in colorectal adenoma was significantly higher than that in colorectal mucosa group ( p<0.01 ) . Agnor was correlated with depth of lymph-node metastasis , serosa invasion ,distant metastasis , Dukes stage and the depth invasion of tumor. It was not correlated with the large of tumor(p>0. 05).The Agnor of low differentiation group was significantly higher than that in middle and high differentiation group (p<0. 01). The Agnor in Dukes D, C were higher than that in Dukes A,B(p<0. 01). (4)With the degree of the expression of VEGF, MVD and Agnor are increasing and with the degree of MVD, Agnor was increasing too. The MVD in VEGF(+) group (32. 5±5. 55) was significantly higher than that in VEGF(-) group (22. 4±7. 93) (p<0. 01). The expression of VEGF was closely correlated with MVD(rs=0. 618) (p<0. 01). The Agnor in VEGF(+) group(3.35± 1.18) was higher than that in VEGF(-) group (3. 08±1. 00) (p<0. 05). The expression of VEGF was correlated with Agnor (rs=0.418) (p<0.05).MVD was closely correlated with Agnor too (rs=0.572) (p<0.01).[Conclution] VEGF was high expression in colorectal cancer and can predict the development of the disease . VEGF might play an important role in the angiogenesis of colorectal cancer and cell proli feration.Postgraduate Zhang Zhongxin(Oncology) Directed by Liangjun Wangqing...
