| The Construct and Verification of Relational Competitiveness Measuring Method forModern Medical Care and Health Market and the Choice and Analysis of Management Strategies for Medium and Small-sized Military HospitalsObjectives To construct the method for the measurement of competitiveness in medical care and health market. Furthermore, to verify its practicality and estimate the competitiveness of the hospitals, to analyze the competitive inner and outer environments and identify the effective factors, provide management strategies for a certain hospital. Methods Referred to the competitiveness measuring method for the industrial and commercial markets, based on the hospitalization proportion of the postcode area to the hospital and overlap extent of each matched-pair hospitals in medical services, the competitivenessmeasuring method can be figured out, that is the relational competitiveness measurement method. It was used to calculate the total received and generated competitiveness by the hospitals, analyze the influences of the hospital scale and property on their competitiveness. Moreover, by using weight index scale method for analyzing the competitive outer and inner environment and the effective factors, we found the problems of a certain military hospital and stipulated a series of management strategies. Results Based on the competitiveness measurement method for different organizations in industrial and commercial market, the relational competitiveness measurement method was costructed, because they were alike in the basic components-the market share rate. The method is suited to measure the hospital competitiveness. With this method, it was found the total competitivenesses that the hospitals received in a certain administrative district in one city was higher than those in the other districts, a certain military hospital received the even higher competitiveness, but generated the even lower competitiveness, so do the other smaller size military hospitals. Rooted on the scopes and property patterns, it was found that the received competitivenesses were in inverse proportion to the scopes of the hospitals, the generated competitivenesses were in direct proportion to the scopes of the hospitals. The competitivenesses the military hospitals received were stronger than their local government owner competitors. Based on those mentioned above, the weight index scaled method was usedto identify the outer and inner competitive environment for a certain hospital by comparing it with other military and local government owned hospitals. Some existing problems have been cleared, based on this, some management strategies have been discussed for the development and existence of a certain military hospital. Conclusions The relational competition measured method is suited for the analyzing of medical care and health market . By using the method, it was found the total competitivenesses the military hospitals generated were weaker than those of the local hospitals, a certain military hospital competitiveness received was even lower , this case was associated to both their scopes and ownerships. Because its competitiveness was affected by various outer and inner environmental factors, such core competitiveness, innovation and advanced medical technologies,et al, as a result, it could not share a bigger medical care and health market. It was suggested that a certain military hospital should take advanced management strategies and improve its core competitiveness, especially its innovations, for its existence and development. |
