Aerobic exercise of long-term, moderate and low intensity are emphasized and promoted in the treatment of type 2 diabetes all through, whereas strength training are much less introduced. Strength training has profound effects on the musculoskeletal system, and can contribute to the glucose and lipids control in type 2 diabetes. To find the optimal exercise strategies, we studied the effects of 6w aerobic strength training on glucose and lipids control in type 2 Diabetes. After filtration from the 172 type 2 diabetes outpatients in Gulou hospital, 31 subjects was studied. Aerobic strength training project was established according to the EQUBIC and Chinese equipment condition. Exercise intensity was established according to the graded ergometer exercise testing and controlled by the relevant target heart rate. Serum glucose and lipids level, cardiovascular function, body mass and quality of life were observed in the Study to evaluate the overall effects of aerobic strength training. The results indicate: aerobic strength training improve the glucose and lipids control, cardiovascular function, body mass and quality of life of type 2 diabetes, and can be considered as an effective and safe exercise strategies for type 2 diabetes. The results show as follows:1. Serum FBG (fasting blood glucose) and GSP (glycosylated serum protein) declined significantly after 6w aerobic strength training, indicated that aerobic strength training can improve the glucose control of type 2 diabetes.2. Serum HDL-C(high density lipoprotein-cholesterol) increased significantly, whereas TC(total cholesterol) and LDL-C(low density lipoprotein-chobstercl) significantly reduced, TG(triglyceride) level did not change after 6w aerobic strength training, It indicate that aerobic strength training can bring on a better lipids control.3. After 6w aerobic strength training, F.C.(functional capacity) of the type 2 diabetes increased significantly, HRrest (heart rate at rest) declined significantly, and BP (blood pressure)remains unchanged.4. After aerobic strength training, body weight, fat weight, BF%( % body fat) and WHR(waist: hip ratio) of the type 2 diabetes decreased significantly, whereas weight of muscle mass significantly increased, It suggest that aerobic strength training can change the body boss of type 2 diabetes, and reduce the inner abdomen fat mass, lead a better distributation of fat mass.5. Total score and the scores of role-physical, general health, vitality and role-emotional of the SF-36 increased significantly. Score of physical functioning, bodily pain, social functioning and mental health also tend to increase, but there is no significant change. The result indicate that aerobic strength training can improve the quality of life of type 2 diabetes in part.
