Ohiective:To observe the effects of Zhi-Bai-Di-Huang Decotion (ZBDHD)on cleaning experimental ureaplasma urealyticum(UU) of male S.D. rats, and explore its machnism of anti-UU and enhaning spermatozoa motility. Methods:30 rats were selected randomly from 40 male S.D. rats and developed into models, which were inoculated UU by injecting broth into the urinary bladder. They were divided into three groups afer 20-day observation: the model group, the treatment group with medicine (Minocin), and the treatment group with ZBDHD. The rest 10 rats were in the blank control group. After the rats had been fed and administrated for 20 days, we observed the weight of their testes, detected UU in the testes by culture, examined sperm counts, survival, motility, morphology, observed the pathologic changes in testis and studied the apoptosis of spermatogenic cells of rat testis with TUNEL.Results: The weight of model rats' testes was much lighter than that of blank control group, Minocin group and ZBDHD group (P<0.05). The UU -positive rats were 7 cases (70%) in the model group, which was much Higher than that in the blank control group,Minocin group (22.2%)and ZBDHD group(22.2%). But the difference was nonsense. The spermatozoa count as well as the spermatozoa survival in the model group was lower, the spermatozoamorphological changes in the model group were higher and the spermatozoa motility was also lower. Compared with the blank control group, Minocin group and ZBDHD group, the differences were significant(p<0.05). ZBDHD could increase the spermatozoa survival rates, derease the rate of the spermatozoa morphological changs and improve the spermatozoa motility. There was significant difference between Minocin group and ZBDHD group (P<0.05). In the model group. it showed extensive degeneration in seminiferous tubules in testis, germ cells exfoliation and the insterstitial tissue permeation and edema. The rate of apoptotic spermatogenic cell was much higher, too(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.ZBDHD can effectively inhibit the growth and reproduction of UU, and promote the restoration of pathologic changes in testis. 2.ZBDHD can decrease the rate of spermatozoa morphological changes, enhance the rate of spermatozoa suvival and spermatozoa motility and improve the spermatozoa quality.3. ZBDHD can decrease the rates of apopotic spermatogenic cells in the orchitis.
