The Effect Of Bazhen Decoction On Leukopenia In Mice

The effect of Bazhen Decoctin on leukopenia induced by cyclophosphamide(CY) in mice was studied. An experimental model of murine bone marrow injury and depressed immunofuntions was established through cyclophosphamide induced and the following phenomena were observed. The techniques of culture of hematopoietic progenitor cell and hematopoietic growth factor assay were used. Studied the effect of Bazhen Decoctin on the levels of individual, cell, cytokine and DNA/RNA.Bazhen Decoction could obviously increase WBC and W-LCC (P<0.05) , promote the proliferation of bone marrow cells and spleen cells, and increase the quantity of CFU-GM (P<0.01) and the activity of CSFs in SCM and LCM. At the same time, Bathen Decoction could enhance the production of IL-1 from peritoneal M and IL-2 secreted by splenocytes.On the level of DNA, though Cyclophosphamide (CY) could depress the bone marrow cells and immunofunctions, it has not effect on the programmed cell death of the bone marrow cells. So the regulation of Bathen Decoctin on the programmed cell death need more experiment.It was suggested that Bazhen Decoction is clinically a hopeful drugused to cure ematipoietc system and immunodeficiency diseases and depress the effects of CY induced leukopenia.
