| Objectives: Modern research shows that there are some special correlations between Neiguan point of the Pericardium meridian and the heart. Therefore approach to rats model of myocardial ischemic reperfusion injury and interfered by electroacupuncture(EA), the research on evaluating the Neiguan efficacy of protecting cardiac myocyte was carried out. Methods: 50 Wistar male rats were randomly divided into five groups: the sham operated group, the model group, the Neiguan point group, the Lieque point group and the Hegu point group. each group with ten rats. The anterior descending branch of left coronary artery in the root was cut through by a thread. Coronary artery was not ligatured in the sham operated group. As for model group, when the root cut through by a thread and kept rest for 20 minutes, the coronary artery was ligatured for 40 minutes, then released and reperfused for one hour.As for the Neiguan point group, the Lieque point group and the Hegu point group, when the root cut through by a thread, EA in Neiguan, Lieque and Hegu respectively for 20minutes, the coronary artery were ligatured for 40 minutes, then released and reperfused for one hour. At the end of the experiment, the blood were obtained from the inferior vena cava and the hearts were cut down for assaying Nitrogen monoxide (NO), Nitricoxide synthase (NOS) and intracellular Ca2+ in all groups. Results: 1. EA in Neiguan of pericardium meridian increased more significant NO than Hegu of the Lung meridian did; there was not significant difference of NO in Hegu of lung meridian and in the model group. 2. EA in Neiguan of pericardium meridian increased more significant NOS, constitutive NO synthase (cNOS) than the model group did; while compared with Lieque and Hegu group respectively, EA on Neiguan still increased more significant NOS, cNOS, except iNOS. 3. EA in Neiguan reduced intracellular Ca2+ fluorescence intensity, which showed the practice could restraint intracellular calcium overload. Conclusion: The efficacy of EA in Neiguan of pericardium meridian for protecting myocardial ischemic reperfusion injury does suggest that there are some special correlations between the meridians and the viscera. |
