| Objective: To explore the possibilities of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the treatment of Chronic Hepatitis B among North American residents; Establish a supportive foundation for Traditional Chinese Medicine in the world.Method: We chose the cases that have been diagnosed by Western Medicine as Chronic Hepatitis B (mild to moderate type) and diagnosed by Traditional Chinese Medicine as Liver and Kidney Ying deficiency type. From symptomatic improvements, liver functional lever, Chronic Hepatitis B viral index and overall effectiveness, total four areas to survey and compare the success of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the treatment of Chronic Hepatitis B among North American residents.Results:1. Liver and Kidney Ying deficiency is one of the main types of Chronic Hepatitis B among North American residents.2.Acupuncture alone cannot be considered as a main therapy for Chronic Hepatitis B, it can only be use as a supplementary therapy for this condition.3.The effectiveness of modified formula"Yi Guan Jiang"combine acupuncture were comparable with western medicine (Lamivudine); The effectiveness of modified formula "Yi Guan Jiang" were comparable with modified formula "Yi Guan Jiang" combine acupuncture; In the anti-viral field, all Traditional Chinese Medicine groups have showed less success compare with western medicine (Lamivudine).4. By adding Traditional Chinese Medicine on the later stage of Lamivudine treatment (6 months), there is a good possibility of reduce YMDD (deformation) and increase its anti-viral effect, in some cases can even eradicate the disease (virus).Conclusion: Health care professions should consider"Three Causes"(Geographic Cause, Periodic Cause and Individual Cause) as important foundations to treat Chronic Hepatitis B. Emphasize accurate diagnoses for this illness and distinguish different symptoms as part of the combination. |
