Analysis Of ZHANG Cong-zheng's Medicopsychological Thoughts

ZHANG Cong-zheng, whose academic system contained rich thoughts of medical psychology, is a famous medical expert. In the thesis, consulted some related data of psychology and TCM, his main work, Rumen Shiqin, was systematized, and his medicopsychological thoughts were analyzed.Guided by the basic theories of TCM, other doctors' medicopsychological thoughts andclinic experience being used for reference, ZHANG Cong-Zheng's medicopsychologicalthoughts formed in his clinic practice. In his point of view, human body is an unitedwholeness that "body" and "mind" are closely related. And he also thought that emotions arefirmly concerned with Qi activites of the human body and Five-zang viscera system in whichHeart worked as the leading element. ZHANG Cong-zheng studied deeply on the emotionaltheory, analyzed the physiological mechanism of emotion, explained the pathogenicmechanism of emotion, and discussed the relationship between some diseases and differentemotions. He paid attention to what doctor says on a patient with an emotional disease, putforward the medical psychology on emotional disease. His unique explanation to emotionaltheory proved to be a sound supplement to modem psychology. He also paid attention to therelationship between doctor and patient in clinic, and pointed out that some subjects in fouraspects should be attended for establishing a good relationship between doctor and patient.His psychological thoughts of caring for life contained preventing disease before it occurs andpreventing its development after the occurrence of a disease. Following the aspects mentionedabove he discussed the cultivation methods of psychological health in different age groupsand the problems which should be noticed during the recovery stage. And all these provided anew choice for modern health psychology.On the deep TCM theory basis, ZHANG Cong-zheng collected plenty of psychologicalcases. The psychological therapy methods used by these cases not only showed TCM treatingmethod but also contained some principles and methods used in modem psychology. InRumen Shiqin, 236 cases, which included 23 cases of emotional patients and 10 cases ofpsychotherapy, were recorded. These cases reached the highest level in the Chinese medicalhistory and greatly influnced the later experts. Through these cases, ZHANG Cong-zheng'saccomplishments of psychotherapy can be summarized in three aspects. First, he could applythe characteristic psychotherapy skillfully, and developing it well. Second, in many cases, heapplied some psychotherapy to treat patients, which were similar to the modern westernpsychotherapies. Third, he could applied multiple therapy for physically and mentallydiseases, which should be studied more deeply in the research of modern medical psychology.ZHANG Cong-zheng's medicopsychological thoughts have some enlighten significanceon the theory and practice of modern psychology. TCM psychology is an very important partof Chinese traditional culture. By studying the medicopsychological thoughts of TCM expertslike ZHANG Cong-zheng some basic theories of modern psychology can be greatly enriched.Used his thoughts for reference, combined modern psychology, the TCM psychotherapy canbe more developed, and the treating means and methods of modem psychotherapy must beenriched more.
