Objective To observe the changes of serum level of cell adhesion molecules in patients with acute leukemia at diagnosis and complete remission(CR) ,in order to explore the significance between serum cell adhesion molecules concentration in different stage and clinical therapy and turnover in patients with acute myeloblastic leukemia (AMD and acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL).Methods The levels of serum P-selectin(sP-sel) , L-selectin(sL-sel) , E-selectin(sE-sel) and intercellular adhesion molecule-1(sICAM-l) were dectected with ELISA assay in 32 cases of patients with acute leukemia at diagnosis and 28 cases of patients with acute leukemia in the stage of CR and 20 normal healthy cases, compared the results respectively in the three groups. Results The level of sP-sel, sL-sel, sE-sel and sICAM-1 in healthy group was (255. 40 + 105. 94) tg/L, (206. 00 ?71. 70) g/L, (33. 06 + 8. 40) g/L and (262. 56 ?32. 93)ug/L respectively; the level of those cell adhesion molecules in patients with acute leukemia at diagnosis was (146. 65 ?131. 51) ug/L, (714. 39 + 591. 27)/*g/L, (59.26 + 52. 82) g/L and (386. 87 + 201. 46) g/L respectively; there was a significant difference between the healthy group and later group(t=3. 12,t' = 4. 57,2. 75,3. 44;P<0. 05);the level of those soluble cell adhesion molecules in patients with acute leukemia in the stage of CR was (302. 47 + 144. 12) g/L, (251. 37 + 207. 13) g/L, (38. 19 + 16. 01) g/L, (299. 92 + 222. 23) g/L respectively; there was no significance(t = 1. 239,0. 802,1. 30, 5. 63,P>0. 05)between healthy group and CR group. Furthermore, the level of sP-sel, sL-sel,sE-sel and sICAM in patients with AML at diagnosis was (135. 63 + 129. 74) g/L, (517. 63 + 499. 20) g/L, (56. 31 + 52. 97) g/L and (334. 54 + 235. 62) g/L respectively, and that of sP-sel,sL-sel,sE-sel and sICAM-1 in those with ALL was (171. 23 + 140. 35) g/L, (1217. 23?23.14) g/L , (66. 80 + 54. 85) g/L and (392. 15?178. 07) ug/L respectively, and there was significance only in the level of sL-sel between AML and ALL (t=4. 31,P<0. 01).Conclusion The level of sP-sel in patients at diagnosis was lower than that of sP-sel in healthy group and patients in CR group, and the level of sL-sel,sE-sel and sICAM-1 in patients at diagnosis was higher than those in the other groups; there was a significantdifference in the level of sL-sel between the patients with AML and ALL at diagnosis . Our results indicated that by detecting the level of some cell adhesion molecules, we could evaluate the therapy effect, monitor the progress of diseases and make it as the reference index in disease grouping.
