Objects To Investigate the protective effects of modified heart preservation solution on porcine hearts during orthotopic heart transplantation, which surffered warm Ischemic and cold storage. Methods 16 pair of porcines were divided Into two groups randomly. The animal model of orthotopic heart transplantation In porcine were successfully established. Before transplanted to the receptors, all the hearts of donors were subjected to 5 mintues warm Ischemia and then were perfused with cold st.Thomas solution (n=8) or cold Modified new solution (n=8) respectively for myocardial protection and the hearts were removed and preserved in the aforementioned solutions at 4 C for 4 hours . Three hours after transplantation , the graftes were collected to be detected . To observe and record : (1) The status about the recovery of heart function ; (2) the values of creatine kinase-MB ( ck -MB) in serum; (3) the water present in myocardium after cold storage for4 hours ; (4) the values of MDA and SOD in myocardium; (5) the change of myocardium tissues and the content of hepatin in myocardium cells microscopially . Result Significant differences were observerd between two groups of transplanted porcine heart . Better recovery of hearts of heart function in group II; more water was presented In the myocardium in group I ; the mean values of the postoperatively released ck-MB and MDA In myocardium were greater In group I ,and the SOD in myocardium were higher in group II ; the grades of PAS was higher In group II. Conclution Compare with st.Thomas solution ,the protective effect of modified new heart preservationsolution is more effectively on warm ischemic porcine hearts during cold storage.
