Objective To study the influence of maize oil on lipidic metabolization in rats'liver and probe into the role and pathogenesis of single maize oil in the occurrence of Steatohepatitis. Methods The experiment were divided into 3 parts. Steatohepatitis was developed by 20% maize oil diet in the first and second parts of the experiment. The 24 female rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: the group of 6 weeks (6w),the group of 10weeks(10w),the group of 12weeks(12w),the group of normal control(N).All rats were not killed till the end of the 6th week ,the 10th week and the 12th week.Steatohepatitis was developed by subcutaneous injection of carbon tetrachloride(ccl4) and dietetic factors in the third part of the experiments. The female rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: the group of Lard(L),the group of maize oil(M),the group of normal control(N).All rats were not killed till the end of the 3th week.We aimed at observing the change of blood lipids ,free fatty acid(FFA), the malondialdehyde (MDA) induced by lipid peroxidation .endotoxin ,tumor necrosis foutor- a(TNFa) hyaluronic acid (HA)and total cholesterin(TC)and triglycerides (TG) in the liver tissue, observing the hepatic histopathologicchanges by HE staining and the hepatic collagen by VG staining under light microscope.ResultsExperiment one :Compared with group N ,the contents of TC, TG in serum had no significant difference ,and the content of VLDL in serum decreased significantly ,the contents of hepatic TC, TG, VLDL increased significantly, the contents of plasma endotoxin, GPT, TNFa,MDA,FFA increased significantly in the group of 6w.The hepatic histophatholopic features (HE staining)showed that slight or medium steatohepatis of macrovesicular , in zone I of liver acinus occurred.Experiment two :Compared with the group of N,the contents of plasma endotoxin ,TNFa,MDA,HA increased significantly both in the group of 10wand 12w(p<0.05),and increased as the time went on .The hepatic histophatholopic features (HE staining)showed that slight hyperplasia of fibre tissue occurred.Experiment three :Compared with the group of N ,the contents of plasma MDA,HA increased significantly both in the group of L and M(P<0.05), and those in group M were much higher than those in group L .But The contents of plasma endotoxin and TNP a increased significantly in group M(P<0.05).The hepatic histophatholopic features (HE and VG staining)showed that heavy steatohepatitis of macrovesicular in zoneIIIof liver acinus occurred .In group M, the hepatic fatty degeneration was lighter than that in group L.but there was slight hyperplasia of fibre tissue. Conclusions single 20% maize oil can injure the female rat s liver cell and lead to the fatty liver and steatohepatitis , hyperplasia of fibre tissue in liver if prolonging the feeding time. The steatohepatitis in female rats occurred by feeding with carbon tetrachloride(ccl4)and dietetic factor for 3 weeks and the hyperplasia of fibre tissue was more obvious in group M than that in group L.
