The development of network communication technology produces many big changes of the people's life style. With the application of digital medical equipment such as CT, MR and so on, we can get many kinds of physical information of the patients more conveniently. These increasing data bring forward the new big challenge to the image processing area. Then the design and realization of the Pictures Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) become the competitive choice in Hospital Information System, which can give the possibility of the sharing information among different medical departments. Digital Image and Communication In Medicine (DICOM)standard, known as the key technology of PACS, is intended to create a standard of data archiving and communication. It is firstly established by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), and reformed the difficult communication among different protocol efficiently. But it is not perfect and still need to be extended. This is especially true of the getting different grayscale images and the display consistency in medical applications. So the research and development of communication protocol according with the DICOM standard become an important task for most PACS corporations.Based on the intensively research of the current DICOM standard, this dissertation revolves around the realization of DICOM standard and probes especially into the getting different grayscale images and the display consistency. The main work includes:1. By taking into account the communication protocol relatively with the bottom DICOM standard, we aim to establish one communication model and a development library of the DICOM.2. In order to implement the reading and transforming of different DIOCM types images, a library of DICOM image processing is built.3. Via a pilot study with the storage of statement and the display consistency of the grayscale image, a new solution is presented in this dissertation.
