Objective :To envaluate the diffrence of intercondylar bone resection and articulating geometries among different posteriorstabilized knee prothesis .Method: Fifty anatomic saw bones were cut using manufactures instruments for the five implant designs currently utilized at Tianjin hospital.( PFC Sigma , Nex-Gen Legacy, Genesis 2 PS , Innex , Insall-Burstien II) The quantity of intercondylar femoral bone removed, following posterior stabilized total knee arthroplasty with these five designs, was determined using a fast cast wax mold technique. Result: Genesis 2 PS and Innex removed significantly less bone in large anatomic saw bones compared with PFC Sigma , Nex-Gen Legacy and Insall-Burstien II. For the small bones, the Genesis 2 PS resected 5.9 cm3 ,which was not statistically larger than Innex .The diffrence of intercondylar bone resection between Innex or Genesis 2 PS and others PS was statistically signiflcant.conclusion: We are not inferring that any of these designs are better than others based on our findings.we feel that preservation of bone stock during posterior stabilized knee repacement is advantageous, provided that the clinical results are not compromised.
