Objective:To observe the changes of nitric oxide synthase(NOS) and fos protein in injuried brain following retina ischemia-reperfusion injury ,the effect of nerve neurotrophic factor on c-fos protein and NOS and evaluate the contribution of c-fos protein and NOS to brain tissue effect. Methods:A model of retina ischemia-reperfusion injury was established by imitation. The contents of NOS and c-fos protein in brain tissue including lateral geniculate body and visual area regions were examined individually by immunohistochemical technique following sham operation(groupl), ischemia 30min without reperfusion(group2), ischemia 1 hour without reperfusion (group3), ischemia 2 hour without reperfusion(group4), reperfusion following ischemia 2 hour (group5),l day reperfusion following ischemia 2 hour (group6), 2 day reperfusion following ischemia 2 hour (group7), 5 day reperfusion following ischemia 2 hour (group8),the last groups(9,10,11) injected with NGF.Results:Compared with groups from 1to 8,the contents of NOS and c-fos protein in brain tissue including lateral geniculate body and visual area regions were obviously statistic significance (P<0.05) .There was no changes between group4 and group5, (P>0.05) .The increase exists remarkably about the the contents of NOS and c-fos protein in lateral geniculate body Compared with the others. There also was higher level ingroup7 than group6 (P<0.05 ), while no changes happen between group8 and group7 (P>0.05) . There was little statistic significance between the last three groups and group 1.Conclusion: The data of NOS and c-fos protein in brain tissue including lateral geniculate body and visual area regions vary depending on different time of retina ischemia-reperfusion specially, after reperfusion. NOS and c-fos protein are involved in brain tissue injury following reperfusion of ischemia rretina. The result also suggested that NGF can have a positive effect on retina ischemia-reperfusion injury.
