Objective: To evaluate the accuracy of colposcopically directed biopsy in thediagnosis of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN).Methods: All of 153 patients with CIN diagnosed by colposcopically directed biopsyand treated with cervical loop electrosurgical procedure (LEEP)/ hysterectomyshortly after, were retrospectively studied. The consistence of pathologic diagnosisbetween colposcopically directed biopsy and LEEP/ hysterectomy was evaluate.Loss of diagnosis of cervical invasive carcinoma and the relative factors wereanalyzed. Results: Of the 153 patients, 106 (69.3%) had consistent pathologic diagnosesbetween colposcopically directed biopsy and LEEP/ hysterectomy, but 47 (30.7%)inconsistent including 14.4%(22/153) overdiagnosis and 16.3% ( 25/153 )underdiagnosis. The total of 18 (11.8%) patients were confirmed cervical invasive carcinoma by LEEP/ hysterectomy. Loss of diagnosis of invasive carcinoma by colposcopically directed biopsy in patients with cytologic diagnosis of ≥HSIL was found to be significantly more common (X2=8.208, p<0.05) than in
