ObjectiveTo discuss the clinical features and therapeutic status of ulcerative colitis (UC) in Liaoning Province of China.MethodA retrospective analysis was performed in 194 patients with UC from our hospital diagnosed from 1994 to 2003.ResultsThe most frequent onset age was 25-49 years old and the second was 60-64 years old. There were 30 patients (15.5%) with extra-intestinal manifestations. There was significant correlation between the severity of illness and the extent of colonic involvement, the increase of blood platelet, the decrease of serum albumin and kalium. The symptoms of 93.7% patients were remit by conventional internal medical therapy.ConclusionsConventional treatment is efficacious and immunosuppressors and unconventional treatments should be considered in severe and glucocorticoid refractory cases. The treatment of UC should be regulated. |
