Effect Of Anti-radiation, Anti-fatigue And Advancing Lead Excretion On Mice With Transgenenic Metallothionein Mushroom (Pleurotus Ostreatus)

In recent years many studies found that metallothionein (MT) created by inducement in animal body had varied physiological functions such as detoxification of heavy metal, anti-oxidization, anti-senility and anti-radiation. There are several papers reporting that pure MT has effective function, but there was no literally report of transgenic MT products taken in by animals.In this study, several vital physiological functions of transgenic MT mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) were studied on ICR mice. The results showed that:Dried transgenic MT mushroom could promote growth of mice and advanced its ability in learning and memorizing and anti -fatigue of mice when it was mixed 1% in mice feed compared with common mushroom or common feed. It was also found that Transgenic MT mushroom could limit its growth and future advance the ability of anti-fatigue when it was mixed to 3.16%. Both of transgenic MT mushroom and common one could limit growth of mice and lead to death. There were significant differences in death ratio, time of half death, and feed intake and feed utilization between the different groups taking in common and transgenic MT mushroom. The concrete reasons should be studied further.Dried transgenic MT mushroom could repair the injury of anti-oxidization system by radiation when it was mixed 1% in feed compared with positive control group. And there were no evident effects when its does is raised. There was also obvious function to repair PLT in blood system but no at common level, and there were no evident effects when its does is raised. It showed only visible effects in the higher does group to injure of spleen caused by radiation and no at common level. There were no significant effect to WBC, HCT and DNA content of marrow in the lower and the higher does groups.There were no evident effects to Pb content in blood and varied organ of Pb poisoning mice in the lower and the higher does groups in which transgenic MT mushroom was mixed to the feed of mice compared with the group in which mice only took in common mushroom. But it was found that transgenic MT mushroom could advance the abilities to learn and memorize and SOD activity of serum in the lower and the higher does groups and it could raise -SH content in the higher does group. It showed that there was a certain function to promote sensitive items of poisoning mice.There were all no apparent effects on growth and abilities to learn and memorize and serum anti-oxidization ability of senile mice caused by injecting D-galactose under skin. It showed that transgenic MT mushroom had no evident function to delay mice senility, which might be the experimentation time is no long enough.
