Objective: To study the morbidity of hyperuricemia in the old male, the characteristics of the accompanying diseases in the old male hyperuricemia and the correlation between serum uric acid concentration and age BMI blood pressure, the level of cholesterol , triglyceride, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, HbA1c, inflammation factors such CRP, T-HCY.Methods: This retrospective analysis was performed on data collected from 450 old male patients consecutively admitted to out hospital between January 2002 and December 2004, including 225 cases with hyperuricemia, 225 with normal serum uric acid levels. In each group 110 individuals had T2DM. All study subjects' disease history were colleted. Their height, weight, blood pressure were measured, as well as the levels of uric acid, cholesterols, triglycerides and creatine, insulin, CRP, T-HCY and uric acid in 24-h urine sample. Results: 10.5% of all study subjects had hyperuricemia. The mean plasma uric acid level was higher in the hyperuricemic patients than the controls(503.265±62.334μmol/L VS 312.548±61.455umol/L, P<0.01). 20 cases of the hyperuricemia subjects had gout attack, accounting for 8.9%. The prevalence of coronary heart disease, hypertension, hypertrilyceridemia, renal dysfunction, overweight, obesity and fat liver were greater in the patients with hyperuricemia compared with the patient without hyperuricemia(p<0.01). The analysis also showed the hyperuricemic patients had higher age, BMI, and the levels of blood pressure, plasma TG, CH, HDL-C, FBG, creatine than the controls, however their creatine clearance of in 24-h urine sample was lower(p<0.01). With age advancing, the level of plasma Cr UN were increased and the creatine clearances of 24-h urine sample were decreased in the two groups. Serum uric acid was significantly associated with age, weight, BMI, blood pressure, triglyceride, total cholesterol,...
