| ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to draw a comparison among the apical leakage of root canal sealers of different kinds, and to provide'the important theoretic and experimental basis for the choice of perfect root canal sealers in clinic.MethodsThe root canals of 40 extracted single - root teeth were prepared with step -back technique, and randomly divided into four experimental groups. The teeth of four experimental groups were obturated by lateral condensation of cold gutta - percha and one of the following sealers respectively: group A. traditional zinc oxide and eugenol sealer; group B. Cortisomol sealer ; group C. Vitiate sealer; group D. AH - Plus sealer. Then all the teeth were treated with India ink dye penetration and clearing technique, and the dying lines were measured by stereo microscope and microphtograph system. Statistical tests were performed by analysis of variance ( ANOVA) and Student - Newman - Keuls test.ResultsThe mean dying line lengths for experimental groups ( group A, B, Cand D )were 2. 785 ± 1. 602mm,2. 345 ± 1. 553mm,1. 483 ±0. 715mm,1.352 ±0. 855mm, respectively. There were significant differences between Vitapex and traditional zinc oxide and eugenol sealer (P <0. 05) , AH - Plus and traditional zinc oxide and eugenol sealer (P <0.05) ,but no significant difference between... |
