Objective: To investigate the correlation between spiral CT features andpathology,MVD,expression of VEGF, MMP-2 in colorectal carcinoma.Toevaluate the value of the tumor angiogenesis of colorectal carcinoma in tumorbiological behaviors of infiltration ,metastasis by medical imagine. Methods:MVD, expressions of VEGF and MMP-2 in 40 patients with colorectalcarcinoma diagnosed by pathology were examined immunohistochemicallyusing SP techniques. Spiral CT examinations were performed with a SIEMENSEMOTION helical scanner. 40 patients that are colorectal carcinoma wereexamined by SCT.Plain scan and triphasic enhanced scans were performedbefore operation.Contrast medium (Ultravist 300mgI/ml) was injectedintravenously with a power injector at a rate of 3.5m1/s. Statistical analysis wasexecuted by SPSS 11.0 software. The enumeration data of the groups werecompared using t-test, significant level=0.05. Results: 1.The accuracy of SCTfeatures for pericolic and wall infiltration was 92.5%.2.The metastasis rate ofpericolic infiltration and wall infiltration were 75.0% and 33.3% ,respectively, the differences were statistically significant in groups(P<0.05).3.CT extent ofenhancement ,MVD, expressions of VEGF and MMP-2 between wallinfiltration and pericolic infiltration were statistically significant in each ofgroups(P <0.05)4.The CT extent of enhancement correlated with MVD.Conclusion: 1. SCT plain scan and triphasic enhanced scans was a reliabletechnique in the detection, characterization of pericolic infiltration of colorectalcarcinoma;Tumor enhancement could be well seen on SCT cans; The SCTfeatures of pericolic infiltration in colorectal carcinoma indicate the tumor hasmore tendency in metastasis2. MVD,expressions of VEGF and MMP-2 incolorectal carcinoma were closely correlated with the tumor infiltration, so thatMVD, VEGF and MMP-2 might be biological behaviors' indicators for patientswith colorectal carcinoma.3. The CT extent of enhancement correlated withMVD, CT extent of enhancement might be a quantitative index for tumorangiogenesis .4. MVD, expressions of VEGF and MMP-2 could be deducedaccording to the SCT features of colorectal carcinoma, so that SCT scans maybe a noninvasive method to predict aggressiveness and prognosis of colorectalcarcinoma at molecular biological level, and may be value to selectantiangiogenesis therapy.
