| Inflammation is the response of living tissues to cellular injury. It involves both innate and adaptive immune. The purpose of inflammation is to localize and eliminate the causative agent, limit tissue injury and restore tissue to normality. So inflammation is one of the most common and important basic pathological progress which involve in infectious disease, tissue damage, the initation and promotion of cancer and the development of atherosclerosis .The classic anti-inflammatory drugs can be divided into two types: non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (SAIDs). The former inhibit COX-1 and COX-2 simultaneously, so they may cause gastric adverse effects which leads to patients'intolerance. The latter is kind of a hormone and has many physiological effects. When it is applied to inflammatory diseases, it may cause many side effects. So, to aim at the mechanisms of inflammation, it is very important to exploit and develop new type anti-inflammatory drugs. Resveratrol (3,4',5-trihydroxystilbene) is a natural phytoalexin yielt in several plants in response to injury by some spermatophytes or ultraviolet irradiation. It is present in grape berry skins except in flesh and white wine contains very small amounts of resveratrol compared to red wine. Resveratrol displays numerous properties such as anti-cancer, anti-inflammation, cardiovascular protection and inhibition of platelet aggregation. As far as its anti-inflammation effect, several biological actions of resveratrol have been reported, including the suppression of phorbol ester-induced cyclooygenase-2 gene and LPS–induced inducible NO synthase gene expression, antioxidation and inhibition oxygen radical production. But these researches are limited in vitro experiments and lack systemic in vivo studies reports. To understand its anti-inflammatory activity and to reveal its anti-inflammatory mechanisms, we carried out these experiments. The pharmacodynamic study on the anti-inflammatory actionof resveratrol : Objective: It is to study the acute and chronic anti-inflammatory effect of resveratrol. Method: The acute anti-inflammatory effect of resveratrol was observed through the dimethylbenzene induced ear swelling response in mice and the egg albumin-induced hind paw edema in rats. The experiment of chronic anti-inflammatory effect of resveratrol was performed by application of the cotton balls induced granuloma. Result: Resveratrol significantly inhibited the dimethylbenzene -induced ear swelling in mice and the egg albumin-induced hind paw edema in rats. The weight of glanuloma in rats was reduced by resveratrol . Conclusion: Resveratrol has significant anti-inflammatory effects. The preliminary studies of anti-inflammatory mechanisms of resveratrol : Objective: To study the mechanisms of anti-inflammatory action of resveratrol. Methods: Measurement of hind paw edema induced by egg albumin in bilaterally adrenalectomized rats. The contents of VitC and cholesterol were measured in normal adrenal glands .The chemotaxis of leucocytes,... |
