Objective : To investigate the effects of polymorphism of the estrogen receptor (ER) gene on gland volume of the prostate in BPH of aging man and improve the recognition of etiology of BPH.Methods : 163 cases of BPH were enrolled into the study .All cases were assessed by IPSS. The volume of the whole prostates and of the transition zone was respectively measured by TURS .All cases were drawn blood 4ml on an empty stomach in the moming. All blood were anticoagulated by ACD. DNA was extracted by the phenol-chloroform method. The fragment of ER gene were amplified by PCR. ER gene were respectively digested by PCR-RFLPs with PvuII or Xbal restriction enzyme. All datas were analysed by SPSS.Results:1, The genoty pefrequency was ERPP 0.172 , ER Pp 0.472 , ERpp 0.356 and ER XX 0.037 , ER Xx 0.362 , ER xx 0.601 in 163 cases of BPH. The gene frequency was ERP0.4080, ERp0.5920 , ERX0.2178, ERx 0.7822.2 , The constitutional ratio difference of ER PvuII genetype or ER Xbal genetype in various age groups were not statistic significant respectively(P>0.05 ); the constitutional ratio difference of various kinds of genetype in various age groups were not statistic significant (P>0.05 ) .3, The constitutional ratio difference of ER PvuII genetype or ER Xbal genetype in different total volume groups were not statistic significant respectively (P>0.05) ; the constitutional ratio difference of various group of genetype in different total volume groups were not statistic significant (P>0.05 ) .4, The constitutional ratio difference of ER PvuII genetype or ER Xbal genetype in various group of the prostate transition zone were not statistic significant respectively (P>0.05) ; the constitutional ratio difference of various kinds of genetype in different group of the prostate transition zone were not...
