[Background] Some experts have confirmed that the plaque in carotid artery, especially its stability is one of the most important role in ischemic stroke. There are controversial ideas how vascular wall shear stress take an effect on plaque in carotid artery and its stability. The article try to answer the questions.[Objective] To study the relationship between the plaque in carotid artery, especially its stability and ischemic stroke, and to analyze the relationship between vascular wall shear stress and the plaque in carotid artery, especially its stability.[Methods] 1: All samples from ischemic stroke in carotid artery, and its diagnosis according to criteria of cerebrovascular disease in 1995. 2: The plaque in carotid artery and its stability are measured by color doppler ultrosound. 3: The mean vascular shear stress was calculated. 4: The relationship among mean vascular wall shear stress, ischemic stroke, plaque in carotid artery and its stability are determined by using one-way anova test and chi-square test, respectively.[Results] 1: Overall, the group with low-echo plaque had a highest history of hypertensive, diabete, and the group without plaque had a lowest history. There are, however, no statistical difference. The patients who had suffered from ischemic stroke had statistical difference among three groups. 2: As compared with the group with hi-echo plaque, the group with low-echo plaque was associated with increasing serum level of TC and TG; the group without plaque was associated with lower serum level of TC and TG. 3:The plaque in involved carotid artery had no difference with plaque in controlateral carotid artery. However, the low-echo plaque in involved carotid artery had higher frequency than the plaque in controlateral carotid artery. 4: The mean wall shear stress in...
