PURPOSE: To determine if Chlamydia trachomatis Human papillomavirus 16/18, Neisseria gonorrhoeae are more prevalent in asymptomatic female participants with greater simple form cervical ectopy.METHODS: One hundred and twenty asymptomatic females aged 19 to 41 wererecruited from gynecologic clinics of The first affiliated hospital of Kunming MedicalCollege, which contained eighty persons with simple form cervical ectopy and fortywithout cervical ectopy. After administering a reproductive historyquestionnaire, vaginal specimens were tested for trichomoniasis, candidiasis, etal.Endocervical specimens were tested for Chlamydia trachomatis,Humanpapillomavirusl6/18 and Neisseria gonorrhoeae. After acetic acid application to thecervix, cervical photographs were taken, the area of ectopy was quantified bycomputerized planimetry.women with negative pathogen were followed up everythree months and it took six months. All women were evaluated by SPSS forWindows(version 11.5)using t test, chi square test and logistic regression.RESULTS: After acetic acid application to the cervix, area of cervical ectopy was quantified by computerized planimetry of colposcope and inspected by doctor, the two methods had no significant different. The odds of Chlamydia trachomatis,Human papillomavirus16/18,Neisseria gonorrhoeae infection was similar in persons with greater simple form cervical ectopy compared with less or no ectopy. The same asother infection factors such as candidiasis.trichomoniasis and so on.There was a significant differences among persons with greater simple form cervical ectopy and less or no ectopy about their age.years since menarche, years of sexuall activity, contraception. The likelihood of greater simple form ectopy was higher in asymptomatic younger women than older womenP=0.000).CONCLUSIONS:Using a new, reliable and standardized technique to quantify cervical ectopy, the authors did not find an elevated prevalence of Chlamydia trachomatis Human papillomavirusl6/18,Neisseria gonorrhoeae infection in asymptomatic women with greater area of simple form cervical ectopy.with age increased, women in reproductive life inclined to having less simple form cervical ectopy. Simple form cervical ectopy could be self-cure and doctors should be cautious to it's management.
