| Objective:To assess Fos expression and P2X3 receptors in the central nervous system following noxious stimulation on prostate of rat. Methods: The model of noxious stimulation on prostate of rat were established. The Fos expression and P2X3 receptors were examined in the spinal cord and in the nucleus of solitary tract of rats following received noxious prostate stimulation with the help of immunohistochemical staining. Results: The Fos-like immunoreactive neurons distributed mainly in lamina llinner of the spinal cord, and P2X3 receptor expression was restricted to the terminals of sensory neurons terminating in lamina llinner. The expression of Fos-like immunoreactive neurons and P2X3 receptor can be detected in the nucleus of solitary tract as well. Conclusions: The present study suggested that sympathetic nerve play an important role on the transmission of noxious prostate information, and P2X3 receptor may be involved in the process. The nucleus of solitary tract may modulate it. |
