Object: To survey the dietary and nutritional status and find out nutritional problems among Uigur high risk residents in Xinjiang, and to investigate the effects of dietary intake on blood glucose, blood pressure, plasma lipid and body mass index (BMI). Methods: 841 Uigur residents older than 30 years old was selected by the method of cluster sampling in Urumqi city in Xinjiang. The dietary data was collected by using 24 hours dietary retrospective survey and analyzed by using a nutrient database. The data were divided into 3 groups according to fat energy ratio and total energy intake level. All of data about plasma glucose, insulin, blood pressure and lipid from different groups were statistically analyzed. Results: In the detected people, the total energy intake, average protein intake and fat energy ratio were higher than Reference nutrient intake (RNI). With the increase of fat energy ratio and total energy intake BMI, PG2h, PINS,FINS,HOMA-IR, SBP, DBP,TC,TG were markedly elevated with statistical significance(P<0.05).With the increase of total energy intake FPG, PG2h, BMI,PINS, HOMA-IR increased significantly(P < 0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that high fat energy ratio was positively correlated with abnormal glucose metabolism. Conclusion: O ur data showed thatthe dietary structure of Uigur high risk residents was not reasonable. High fat energy ratio diet might be the risk factor of abnormal glucose metabolism.
