Objective To investigate the clinical characters and diagnosis ofHistoplasmosis .Methods One case with Histoplasmosis was reported retrospectively and therelated literature were reviewed.Results (1)Histoplasmosis was untypical. The clinical manifestations include fever of unknown, decrease of blood cells, hepatomegaly ,splenomegaly and lymphnodemegaly. General antibiotics were inefficiency. (2)We found phagocyte and thallus through pathologic study, fungus culture was the golden standard of the diagnosis. (3) Therapy is facilitated by anti fungal drugs, but the course of treatment was very long. As to this patient the total course of treatment is 9 months.Conclusion Histoplasmosis is seldom to see in clinical work so it is easy to misdiagnosis. This rare disease often can be identified at an early stage with a careful history and physical examination. Pathologic study and fungus culture will contribute to diagnosis. Anti fungal drugs is the main therapy of this disease, immune support is also very important.
