Objectives:The different insulin delivery system influence on the patient's mental and psychological respects who uses it. The assessment of insulin management is deficient at present. This study is aimed on translating and emending the Insulin Delivery System Rating Questionnaires, and making the basic evaluation. The clinical efficiency, treatment satisfaction, treatment burden, diabetes-related worries, social burdens, and general satisfaction are assessed by IDSRQ.Methods:The original questionnaire was translated, and emended with the permission of the author based on the psychometric procedure. The emended questionnaires was used in 110 patients with Diabetes Mellitus in clinical. Its reliability and validity was assessed, and the present situation also was analysed.Results:1. IDSRQ's culture adjustment. In order to keeping the equal property with the original questionnaire, the new IDSRQ was adjusted in concept, semantic, technique and psychometric respects.2. Reliability2.1 The Chronbach's alpha of total 67 items is 0.856 and indicates the integrity is better. The α coefficients of treatment satisfaction, clinical efficiency, diabetes-related worries and mental situation are higher. They are more than 0.80.2.2 The Split-half reliability calculated by the Spearman-Brown formula is 0.734.3. Validity3.1 Content validity: The Pearson's related coefficients of most items in "treatment satisfaction", "influence on daily activities", and "mental situation" parts. It means every item could represent the theme of its part.3.2 Construct validity: Through factor analysis, IDSRQ shows: ?The cumulative squared variance of component is 57.799%, and is more than 40%. ?The Loading values of every part are more than 0.4, except the "influence on daily activities" part. ?The communality is more than 0.4. The 3 points above indicate the construct validity is better.4. The IDSRQ clinical value and the assessment for 110 patientsIDSRQ is especially designed for patients with DM and is the complement of Quality of Life for patients with DM. From the assessment, we could find that: (DThe male and female patients with DM show significant differences in "socialiburden" and "clinical efficiency" parts. The male's social burden is lower than female's. And the female's anticipation for clinical efficiency is higher than male's. ?The patients' social burden, with DM who use insulin pen, is lower than those who use syringe. ?The patients', with DM who take insulin more than 10 years, treatment satisfaction decreases, comparing with those less than 5 years. ? "Treatment satisfaction", "clinical efficiency", "treatment burden", "diabetes-related worries" and "social burdens", and general quality of life influence greatly on IDSRQ. ?Part patients with DM using insulin pen or syringe feel embarrassment. More than half of the total patients show unsatisfaction on the costing of the insulin delivery system. Seldom patients use insulin pump. Conclusions:IDSRQ shows good reliability and validity. It can be used to assess and analysis comprehensively physiological and psychological situation and clinical efficiency as well.
