Objective: To investigate the effect of cilostazol on serum levels of hs-CRP, sICAM-1, sVCAM-1 , MMP-9 and Ps in patients with unstable angina (UA). Methods: 142 patients with unstable angina were studied, which were randomly divided into four treatment groups: aspirin treatment group;cilostazol and aspirin treatment group;aspirin and clopidogrel treatment group;aspirin , cilostazol and clopidogrel treatment group. At the same time, 28 cases of age matched healthy individuals were selected as a control. The serum level of hs-CRP, sICAM-1, sVCAM-1, MMP-9 and Ps were compared among all groups. Therapeutic effect were evaluated.Results: There was a significant difference in serum level of hs-CRP, sICAM-1, sVCAM-1, MMP-9 and Ps among UA group and control group(P < 0.01). The serum level of hs-CRP ,sICAM-1, sVC AM- 1, MMP-9 and Ps were decreased at each group after 1 month and 3 month. The level in aspirin, cilostazol and clopidogrel treatment group decreased most. The harmful clinic event was lowest in this group too. Conclusion: Plaque disruption may be related to the increased serum level of hs-CRP, sICAM-1 , sVCAM-1, MMP-9 and Ps. cilostazol can decrease serum level of hs-CRP, sICAM-1, sVCAM-1, MMP-9 and Ps in patients with UA, and it may have a beneficial effect on steadying the plaque.
