Obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) is a clinic syndrome charactered with repeated intermittent hypoxia during sleeping at night whether companied with hypercapnia or not. OSAHS is a common disorder which has potential danger. However, few reports about the study of renal function in the patients with OSAHS had been found in the literature at home or in foreign. In the experiment we used the sensitive markers of the renal function, The Cystatin C in serum and the series enzyme in urinary which contained, n-acetyl-β-d-glucosaminidase(NAG), β -galactosidae(GAL), γ-glutamyltransferase (GGT) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP), to study the renal dysfounction in patients with OSAHS.Objective: To explore the changes of Cystatin C level and series urineenzymes in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome. Methods: Polysomnography was performed in 30 OSAHS(OSAHS group)and 30 normal healthy adults(control group). The level of serum Cystatin C was determined by ELISA, and series urine enzymes (NAG, GAL, GGT, ALP) was detected by rate.Result: The level of serum Cystatin C in OSAHS group [ (1.69±0.46)mg/L] was significantly higher than that in the control group [ (1. 03 + 0. 28 ) mg/L, P<0. 01]. In patients with OSAHS, the NAG(5. 02±2. 11) U/(mmol ? cr ) ^ GAL( 1.42 + 0.57) U/(mmol ? cr) > GGT(3. 78 + 0. 70) U /(mmol ? cr) and ALP (0.81 + 0.28) U/(mmol ? cr) were significantly higher than that in the control group [(2.25 + 1.12) U/(mmol -cr),p<0. 01;( 0. 65 + 0. 32) U/(mmol ?cr), R0. 01;(3.38 + 0.45) U/ (mmol -cr), p<0. 05;(0.61+0. 16) U/(mmol -cr), p<0. 01] . The level of serum Cystatin c was positively correlated with AHI (r=0. 538, /<0. 01) and negatively correlated with LSaO2(-T=-0. 515, fKO. 01) in patients with OSAHS. NAG and GGT was positively correlated with AHI Cr=0. 477, 0.435, K0. 01, 0.05) . NAG and GGT was negatively correlated with LSaO2Cr=-0. 431, -0.510, K0. 05, K0. 01). Conclusion :1. The levels of serum Cystatin C are increased significantly and series urine enzymes are increased significantly in OSAHS patients, suggesting that the renal function is impaired in patients with OSAHS.2. The level of serum Cystatin C and series urine enzymes were positively correlated with illness severity, suggesting that the renal damage become more serious with increased illness severity.3. Cystatin C and series urine enzymes may be the sensitive indicators that reflect earlier the damage of renal function in OSAHS patients.
