Objective: To explore the change of pulmonary function and partial pressure of oxygen in arterial blood (PaO2) of N-CWS in treating MPE and to learn the effect on pulmonary function of therapy so that to guide clinical pratice. Methods: Choosing defined diagnosis patients by tissue or cell pathology, N-CWS was injected by tube to adhere pleurae after using central vein tube to evacuating pleural effusion. The change of pulmonary function and PaO2 before and after injection were observed respectively. Results: Before and after injection N-CWS the mean of VCmax, FVC MVV, FEV1 PEFR declined, the differences were significant (P<0.05). PaO2 declined and FEV1/FVC rised, the differences were not significant (P>0.05). Conclusion: There were changes in pulmonary function and no changes in PaO2 of N-CWS in treating MPE, we should choose drug in accordance with specific condition.
