Objective: To investigate the effect of intravenous anesthetics against hypothermal preservation of the isolated perfused rat kidney. Methods: Rat kidney cortex was sampled during the cold storage at 24,48,72 hours ,and undergone morphologic analysis. MDA , SOD activity ,and ATPase activity was estimated in biochemical measurement. The apoptosis was assessed with TUNEL assay by Bcl-2 and Bax expression .Result: Pathologic assessments indicated that kidney tubular cell swelling and necrosis was more heavier in Ketamine group beyond 48 hours .AT any time point of kidney cold storage , the MDA level of kidney cortex was higher in morphine group , the SOD activity and the ATPase activity was higher in Propofol group.Bcl-2/Bas level was higher in Propofol group during 1-2 days cold storage than in the Ketamine or morphine group . Conclusion: Ketamine had damage effect on kidney morphologic changes . Morphine didn't show any antioxidant or protection effect within this research .Propofol showed protection effect on SOD and ATPase activity ,could improve the antioxidant effect , and inhibit apoptosis.
