Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare CCR(Completely Caries Removal) time of Carisolv caries removal (chemo-mechanical caries removal) with conventional bur caries removal in primary teeth in children. The study was to compare the acceptability of two caries removal methods by children. Compare the secondary caries rate and missing rate of the two methods after 6 months. Method: According to inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria, 30 children were choosed, every child have one pair of carious primary teeth in the same jaw and same tooth position but on different side. Contralateral primary teeth of 30 children were treated with Carisolv caries removal method and with conventional bur caries removal method respectively, then were filled with F- II glass ionomer. CCR time was recorded. By questionnaire, pain sensation of children during the course of caries removing and experiences of taste of carisolv, their preference to the two methods, were recorded. After 6 months, the secondary caries rate and missing rate of obturator were recorded. Result: Carisolv CCR time was 7.28±2.25 minutes, while conventional bur CCR time was 4.43±2.12 minutes, there was significant difference between two methods(p<0.05). Pain sensation to Carisolv caries removal was less than conventional bur caries removal, there was significant difference between two methods(p<0.05). Postoperatively, 90% of children considered taste of carisolv to be acceptable. 70% of children prefered to choose Carisolv caries removal method.
