| Objective: The present survey was conducted to find out the prevalence of sleep disturbances in school age children of han and ha nationalities, racial difference and sleep time in Altai city of xinjiang. Methods: In December 2005, 1096 school age children age 6-14 years old of han nationalities and 988 same age children of ha nationalities were investigated at random with parent's and children's questionnaire in Altai city of xinjiang. Results: The prevalence of total sleep disturbances is 33.16%. Among them the ha children's is 35.83% and han children's is 30,75%. The prevalence of total sleep disturbances and restlessness sieep, limber spasm, night talking, somnambnlate, nightmaire, nightifreighten in ha children is higher than in han children. Among symptoms relating with sleep-disordered Breathing in children, the prevalence of habital snoring is 2.5%. If we add the case reported by children's questionnaire, then it increases to 4.75% which nears to report of our country and is the same as the foreign report that is 3.2-12.1%. Among them ha children's prevalence of habital snoring is 4.76%, han children's is 4.24%, it and the prevalence of other SDB symptoms such as apnea, mouth-breathing, choke/gargling etc all haven't statistical difference between han and ha children. The average sleep time of every day of school age children of han and ha nationalities is 10.67 hours, that of each age group isn't low comparing with standard of foreign and report of our country. Conclusion: Among the han and hasake children in Altai city of xinjiang there was high prevalence of sleep disturbances. The prevalence of habital snoring is 4.75%.
