Objective: To investigate the indications, the distribution character of diseases and the short-term complications of the implanted cardiac dual chamber(DDD) pacemaker and rate responsive dual chamber (DDDR) pacemakers, the superiority of DDDR pacemaker. Methods: Retrospective analysis of hospital records in the cardiovascular department were taken from 169 patients with the implanted DDD and DDDR pacemakers. Results: (1) They were 95 males and 74 females with mean age 66.09±9.47 years old (range between 28-86 years old). Of these patients, their cardiac electrophysiology variance include sick sinus syndrome(102 patients), Ⅲ° atrioventricular block (33 patients), severe Ⅱ° atrioventricular block (3 patients), Ⅱ° atrioventricular block(10 patients), sinus bradycardia /sinus pause/ sinoatrial block (14 patients); the no-cardiac electrophysiology diseases include dilated cardiomyopathy (5 patients), hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (3 patients), other diseases (9 patients). Of these patients, the etiology distribution includes primary hypertension (83 patients), coronary heart disease (36 patients ), diabetes mellitus (20 patients), rheumatic heart disease (3 patients ), congenital heart disease (2 patients ) other diseases (8 patients). (2) The clinical sysptoms were sharply relieved (P<0.05), the clinical curative effect was apparent after the implanted dual-chamber pacemaker therapy.(3) The common short-term complications related to operation were blood effusion and hematoma formation in pocket (2 patients ),ventricular lead...
