Objective:To investigate whether the platelets expressing p-selectin(PS) in patients with rheumatic mitral stenosis(MS) were higher than the normal subjects and whether PS in left atria was higher than that in right atrial and femoral venous blood. To explore the relationship between PS in left atria and the mitral valve area.To observe whether PBMV percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty could decrease the PS level in patients.Methods:Thirty-seven patients with rheumatic mitral stenosis were observed including 16 patients having atrial fibrillation and 21 patients in sinus rhythm. The left atria, right atria and the femoral venous blood were obtained during PBMV and the cubitus venous blood was obtained after 24 hours of PBMV.The PS concentration was determined by Flow cytometry.14 patients with paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia PSVT were included in the control group. The left atria, right atria and the femoral venous blood were obtained during radiofrequency ablation RFCA .We compared the PS level in the three groups, the three situations and the PS level before and after PBMV.We analyzed the relationship between the PS in left atria and the mitral valve area. Results:â‘ The fractions of platelets expressing PS in left atria, right atrial and femoral venous blood were significantly higher than those of the control group in patients with MS who were in sinus rhythm and had atrial fibrillation(P<0.01), the PS concentration in left atria and femoral venous blood were similar in these two states(P>0.05),the PS concentration in right atria was significantly higher in the atrial fibrillation group than that in the sinus rhythm group(P<0.01);â‘¡The platelets PS expression in left, right atria and femoral venous blood were similar in the control group(P>0.05).In sinus rhythm group, the PS...
