Objective To study the relationships between the pressure of lumbar vertebral veins system and factors such as intraabdominal pressure (IAP) and body mass index (BMI) et al. To offer the theoretic support of individual choosing body posture in Microendoscopic Discectomy (MED).Methods 33 cases that have lumbar disc herniation were selected from Feb, 2005 to Oct, 2005. They consisted of 16 male (48%) and 17 Female (52%), aged 26 to 60 years, mean (40±7.9) years. To measure age, sex, weight, stature, abnormal circumference (at the navel level) of every case 1 day before the operation. Told patients what unexpected situations and uncomfortable senses during the operation and measurement of IAP they would meet. Told patients the methods how to treat it. Get the understanding and permission from every patient. To calculate every case's BMI, label them to 4 groups with the standard of World Health Organization. After the evacuation of urinary bladder, transfuse 50mL sterile normal sodium to urinary bladder through foley catheter at the operation day. After 30min standing, measure the IAP in the postures of supination, left side lying and pronation sign as P1,P2,P3. The measurement of IAP in each posture has 10min interval. Measure IAP 3 times of each posture at random and record the mean. Observe the ectatic degree of lumbar vertebral veins system under the MED. Label them to 2 groups. Results observe under the MED: the posterior internal vertebrel venous plexus was seen with light blue filmy vessel wall, diameter about 3~4mm when enter the vertebral canal. It surrounded with adipose tissue. Anterior internal vertebrel venous plexus with light blue filmy vessel wall, diameter about 4~6mm was seen after pulling away the spinal dura mater and nerve root which close to posterior surface of...
