The Analysis Of Ventricular Fibrillation Happened In Fu Wai Hospital From 1995 To 2004

Objective The aim of our study is analyzing the patients' characteristics who had ventricular fibrillation from 1995 to 2004.Methods From 1995 to 2004, within 10 years, selecting all the patients developed ventricular fibrillation, analyzing their clinic characteristics for finding out which are the risks factors effecting the rate of defibrillation succession; then including all the patients, we selected thosewho diagnosed acute myocardial infarction analyzing their clinic characteristics according their "infarction related artery". Statistical analysis: Comparison of discrete variables was by Fisher exact analysis and continuous variables by t testing. Stepwise logistic regression analysis was used to finding the risk factors effecting the rate of defibrillation succession. All tests presented in this report were two-tailed; p values below 0.05 were considered significant.Results From 1995 to 2004, there are 206 ventricular fibrillation events happened in Fu Wai hospital. The involved patients including 132 males and 69 females. In this study we used logistic regression method to figure out which are risk factor effecting the rate of defibrillation succession. Finally we found the risk factors are NYHA class (Risk Rate 1.7, 95% CI (1.3-2.2 )), serum potassium concentration Risk Rate 2.9, 95% CI (1.9-4.3 )) and using epinephrine( Risk Rate 25, 95% CI (11.5-55.1)). Other clinic characteristics are not the risk factors, including year, sex, smoking, HT, 2-DM, LVEF and LVEDD.
